Driving with sister Julie. Well, i'm off to take Sister Julie driving. I should have a bet on how many dents she can put in my car, but we'll see... =P

Amy brought this up the other week: H-Dog, why don't you be super hip and get a Leather Jacket? My reply? NO WAY! That goes the same for you too Dave. H-Dog can't be possin' with a black leather jacket, because everybody knows that i'm a Wool/Polyester blend man. Hahahaha. I have no problem with other people wearing them, but I don't think anybody could take me seriously with one on. Case in point: I remember going to a Starbucks (it was in a Barnes and Nobles, so before ya'll start thinking I sold out and actually went to a Starbucks to purchase $2.00 Folgers..) and this group of Passat-Driving-Hipsters-With-Leather-Jackets (all of them) came in yamming it up like they just won a soccer game. There was something eerie about the situation, so I went back to checking out the 75% discount books. I have no idea where this is going.
On a side note, day is going by smoothly. Finished most my stuff up at work and thinking about checking out that movie Memento later on tonight. Gimme a ring people if you wanna check it out with me. H-Dog Out.

The Two Towers. It's unbelievable how much more enjoyable The Two Towers is compared to The Fellowship of the Rings. As mentioned in previous blogs, The Fellowship drug on way too long for my tastes. To the suggestions of my friends, they said to stick with the series becasue it'd pay off. To tell you the truth, I could of cared less about Frodo and Sam in The Fellowship, but in The Two Towers I actually enjoyed (as far as I've read anyways) their travels. I can't wait for the movie!

Miami 37, Nebraska 14. Well, it doesn't matter anymore in the debate of who's the best College Football team in the nation: University of Tex--doh, sorry about that Jake, I forgot about their position. =P Miami, Miami is the best College Football Program in the world, next to The University of Afghanistan's Kabul Kanucks. In other news, i'm taking my little sister Julie for some trial runs for her Driver's License. Unfortunately, there are no Salt Flats anywhere around here for me to take her. Kiss my insurance goodbye!

Wha?! Reviews? I had a dream of an edenic, dynamic website where people would contribute articles, reviews or whatever. Unfortunately, all have as much drive as Estelle Getty on a turkey binge. I'll try to keep it up as much as possible and keep in mind that i'll throw in reviews of old stuff in there as well (media I haven't been able to get to for months or years). Bare with me.

HZA's Year End in Musak Pics. Since i'm not Geto Fabulous like The Wally Champ, my list is mostly Bleeding Heart Alternative types, and maybe some Hip Hop thrown in for good measure, so here goes:
10. Peter Yorn - Musicforthemorningafter. A mumbling, smart lyricist, Peter Yorn is the atypical post-folk alternative musician in the vein of Elliot Smith, Rufus Wainwright and many others. What made him stand out in the crowd? Well, basically because none of the other aforementioned released a decent album this year. Musicforthemorningafter is repetitous, but standout tracks include Strange Condition and Just Another. The album just screams of Bob Schneider failing Junior Year in College and picking up some more insightfulness.
9. Spiritualized - Let It Come Down. Jason Pierce proves that sonic noise and orchestra can coincide in Spiritualized's 2001 release. A little more personal and insightful in lyrics as their last album (and I might say a bit more chaotic in sound), Let It Come Down has become one of the albums you listen to when tremendous moments happen in your life, a landslide creeping furiously towards you and you can't do anything about it. Check out Stop Your Crying, The Straight and Narrow and Lord Can You Hear Me.
8. Weezer - The Green Album. As much as Weezer hates being labeled a emo-punk-pop band, that's exactly what they are. Unabashed in their harmonies and hooks, that's what makes a band like them so much fun to listen to. Even though I thought they're first singles release Hash Pipe was rather weak, standouts include Photograph and the catchy (well they're all catchy) Simple Pages.
7. Gorillaz - Gorillaz. Brain child of that guy from Blur (Damon something) and Jamie (whatever of Tank Girl---heheh), Gorillaz to me, oozes with imagination and cool. Four imaginary bandmates playing industrial pop. Too sweet. If you had a pulse this year, you more than likely heard them or heard of them.
6. Spoon - Girls Can Tell. Maybe i'm messing up my order here, because I'm not sure why Spoon is at #6 and Weezer at #8, but this is a very stripped down pop album, sometimes like Pavement, sometimes like The Archers of Loaf, but mostly themselves. If it wasn't for that darn Anything You Want track...
Well, i'll finish up the remainder of the list today. By they way, if you haven't noticed, the page changed. =P

A New Year of Headaches. Dude, i've got this crink in my neck that has not gone away. Anybody know where I can get some morphine for this?? It kept me up tossing and turning all last night. Also, The General calls me sometime around midnight to tell me that he is close to ordering his Lord of the Rings battleset game. Despite his advances to lure me back into his Geekdom, I have stood firm and said: "Back Hell Beast! back to the unholy Abyss you were borne from!". Yet, I admit it looks kind of cool. Alas, his dorky fingers have grabbed me, that loser.

Man oh man. So I stumble home yesterday after a night of good times (see New Year's Eve), take a shower, brush my teeth, consume a frozen pizza and then pass out to The History Channel for a majority of the day. But anyways, the sad part? I'm watching the two hour exxxtravaganza on the WB Network that is called "The Two Hour Special: The Gilmore Girls". From 7:00-9:00, those wacky Gilmore Girls had me freaking hooked. Stupid show, now I gotta find out what happens next week.

HAPPY NEW YEARS...! Details of last night were sketchy, but was a helluva lot of fun. Thanks go out to P-Diddy and Carrozzi Girl for having a Festivus for the Rest of Us. At one point in the night every thereafter was a complete blackout, but i'm positive that I did something to embarass me. Good times, good times. I had to pass out without brushing my teeth; utterly horrible.

Downloaded the Video to Tenacious D's 'Wonderboy'. It's basically Jack Black wandering some midevil mountain landscape (much like the ones in Lord of the Rings) and singing wonderboy. The funniest moments is when he's superimposed over the landscape and singing with all his heart. This is so cheesey...ahhhh.. Gonna go watch it again.
