Mormon Attack! So I was chilling out on the couch when they came. Joe had gone into work, leaving me the lone flagbearer of skepticism in the Apartment. I was watching MTV2's Top 10 Rap Countdown when a knocking came to my door. I looked through the peep hole and saw the two Mormons looking back at me and I was hesitant to open the door, but some Outkast song was blaring on the TV so I knew they know I was in the apartment. I invited the shleps in and we talked about Theology for about a half hour. As Mormon #1 was describing his version of Biblical History, Mormon #2 was showing me little pictures to accompany the speech. Overall, a very convincing sales presentation.
I asked them about "The Celestial Kingdom" and homie tells me "Well, we have a 6 step program where we tell you all about that. We ask you to make commitments, like a Baptism, etc. before we discuss any of that." What the hell? I can go to a Episcopal Church down the road and they can tell me about the afterlife, and you guys are telling me I have to give you my Spiritual MasterCard before finding out more?? Wacky.
So anyways, they blabber on and on with overtly generalized questions about God and Jesus Christ as well as ask me questions designed so they could further preach the Book of Mormon. To top it all off, they asked if they could come back in a few days to discuss what I thought about The Book of Mormon, in which I replied: "I have in no doubt in my mind that you guys have faith that this book is the truth. So I tell you what, I'll call you if I want to talk about it. As for now, I just missed MTV2's #1 Rap Video of 2002. Please go back to your temple."

Whooooo... Had me some fun last night at Razzoo's, that chic new Cajun restaurant on 183. From the outside, the place is as gawdy as they get, but it's actually pretty nice inside...and the beer is cold! WHOA. Walt's Birthday Party tonight!
Whoa, take a look at this picture of a doorway. Stare at it for awhile, especially the doorway. It might take a few minutes to figure out, but keep on looking!
Song of the Day:
1.) Sheryl Crow - My Favorite Mistake. This version isn't the album one. It's Sheryl, her voice and what sounds like an organ or Casio keyboard. Cool.

Terrence Malick?! The Catcher in the Rye?! Salinger's right eye?!! Harry Knowles and his apes have unmasked word that FOX Searchlight pictures might be producing a Catcher in the Rye film adaptation directed by super-secret director (and Austin-nite) Terrence Malick (who recently did The Thin Red Line). Read the entire report here.

Weekendocity. The weekend is finally here! What to do? So many things. Wash/Clean Car, clean apartment, clean dishes, fix the alignment of that print hanging on my wall. Oh snap, did I mention they're finally gonna fix the sheetrock above my shower?? That's right fools, Woodhollow Apartments "Your home away from your Parent's Home", is finally fixing that huge hole right above my showerhead today. Hopefully next week they will replace the aluminum foil on my windows. I hope they use Glad brand, not that H-E-B crap.
Song of the Day:
1.) Pete Yorn - Lose You. This song rocks harder than David Coverdale or Brett Michaels. And that's some freaking rock..! Actually, it's a pretty slow song. Nothing rocks harder than David Coverdale or Brett Michaels, except maybe Axl Rose. Or the Dokken guys.

Cindy Davis be creeping. Ever since the new year started, I come strolling into work within my alotted grace period only to find my parking spot filled by a late model 98' Honda Civic owned by a one Cindy Davis, Customer Service. I've been forced to take the adjacent spot, a good eight to nine feet further away from the entrance of the building. Today, I find THAT spot filled by a 95-96 Jeep Wrangler owned by a one Albert Tucker, Mechanical Engineer. So now i'm out nearly twenty feet from the front door. Something almost Machiavellian is going on here.
According to my calculations: at the current rate, this time next year I should be parking somewhere in the vicinity of the Creedmore/Lockhart region. That would mean a good 14 hour walk to the front door. I better set my alarm clock earlier.
Song of the Day:
1.) James - Say Something.

My Fighting Uruk-Hai. Don't bother trying to translate that previous comment to anybody normal. Gilmore Girls rerun tonight, i'm behind an entire season. I have no clue where exactly I stand in their Universe. Not that I like that show or anything (looks around). I'm going to watch it with Linda and Julie to ensure that it's an appropriate Television show for young adults and little tikes. I've come to the conclusion that as much as I like Smallville, the writing is about as shallow as a comic book. If it wasn't for the entire Superman premise, I think i'd drop it from my TV Schedule.

The Royal Tenenbaums! Man, I tell you, this has been a great season for films. Starting off with Oceans 11, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings and now The Royal Tenenbaums. Wes Anderson's third film (after Bottle Rocket and Rushmore) is utterly beautiful. In a sense, more dysfunctional, sporadic and whimsical than Rushmore, but a lot darker. It's not quite as good as his previous films, but you have to see Gene Hackman's turn as Royal Tenenbaum. The man deserve's an Oscar. In depth review coming soon, once I clean my apartment..
Song of the Day:
1.) Van Morrison - Everyone. The final song in The Royal Tenenbaums. Can't get it out of my head.

Morning Party People..! Took Julie out to the McNeil High School parking lot to test out her driving chops. The last time I was that scared in a vehicle was when I was learning to drive. It's so funny watching kids try to drive, because they have no clue about anything! hahaha...Two feet, one for the brake, the other to accelerate, turning the wheel without your hands overlapping, going in a complete circle in reverse. Utter wackiness, fun none the less! I'm glad the ole' Integra made it out in one piece.
Song of the Day:
1.) Beth Orton (featuring Ben Harper on KEYTAR..! j/k) - Love Like Laughter.
